Vertakill and Skitzofrenic aka The Roach Scholars joint bio:
Both Vertakill and Skitzofrenic Started rhyming and recording in the year 2000, after dabbling with producing beats and free styling in Adelaide’s underground scene in the late 90’s.
Vertakill earned a rep for being a dope freestyle and battle rapper. He was the runner up in the Ear Wax Freestyle Battle (2002), Winner of the South Australian Stealth Battle (2002) and represented S.A. in sydney at the national stealth battle (2003). Growing tired of the battle scene Vertakill and skitzofrenic started focusing more on written tracks and their live show. They have also appeared on classic hip hop radio show in Perth Gettin’ Hectic on several occasions.
In 2003 Vertakill and fellow Domino Effect crew member SD released a mix tape called Bomb Shelter Productions over all original beats. Later in 2003 Skitzofrenic along with Vertakill, SD, Strayf, Shystie B and Graphic featured on another mix tape Vertakill and skitzofrenic released on a street level. Both Demos spread far and wide, furthering Vertakill and skitzofrenic's reputation as two of Adelaide’s finest.
Together Vertakill and Skitzofrenic have preformed numerous shows in Adelaide and Perth since 2004. Not only doing there own shows at Rhino Room , Hyde Park and other renowned Hip Hop venues Roach Scholars have supported for local and international acts. These acts include Jehst, Micall Parkinson, Konny Kon, J Zone Delta and Staen 1.
Skitzofrenic produced a beat on Perth legend Graphics first solo 12 inch record released in 2006. In 2007 Vertakill and Skitzofrenic released there first 12 inch record Vertakill and Skitzofrenic: Roach Scholars. Their Adelaide launch for the 12 inch showed their fan base when it sold out the Electric Light Bar.
Now in 2009 they are ready with there first full length album Roach Scholars: Roaches of the Apocalypse.
